Planting trees will help the environment in many ways – not just by helping to soak up carbon but also by beautifying the environment and supporting wildlife or providing food for the community.

How to earn this badge

If you do four or more of these you will earn a Planting Badge (Household).

  1. We plant at least 10 trees or shrubs per month or organize others to do so on our behalf
  2. We plant trees indigenous to our location
  3. Our workplace sponsors staff to work for volunteer organizations responsible for tree planting, seed gathering, native plant propagation or regeneration of natural resources
  4. We plant fruit trees
  5. We plant bush tucker trees
  6. We follow First Nations peoples’ approaches to growing, harvesting and using bush tucker
  7. We donate to or are members of at least two organizations advocating for improving our forests and natural habitats
  8. We practice relevant First Nations approaches to caring for land and resources
