Dry clothes on a line

Don’t use a clothes dryer unless you have to! Instead, use the natural energy from the sun and wind to dry your laundry. This will not only save significantly on energy costs, but it will also result in fresher, longer-lasting, naturally sanitised clothes, sheets and towels.
Many types of clotheslines are available, from the traditional backyard hoist to highly compact pull-out lines suitable for balconies and under-house areas. You can also get fold-out racks to use inside or on small balconies.
If you shake out clothes while hanging and fold them promptly after drying, they will have fewer wrinkles – so you’ll use less energy for ironing too!
Save up to 500kg of carbon by drying clothes on a line instead of in a dryer
