Rooftop solar panels

2022 marks the 10th year of the Samford Solar Neighbourhood scheme. This initiative was run voluntarily by the Pine Rivers Climate Action Network and Samford Green Street. It involved bulk-buying solar panels for over 200 households who engaged in the program and now have renewable energy sources on their rooftops.

The Samford initiative was the fourth-highest take-up of solar installations in Australia. It has achieved thousands of tonnes of reduction in carbon emissions, not to mention financial savings of over $1 million for participants through a very generous tariff available at the time.
